Taelor Wood (She/They)
Substitute

Raised as a New York City kid, my life path was forever altered when my family moved to the Hudson Valley when I was 12. It was a great privilege to connect with the ancestral lands of the Munsee, Esopus, & Lenape people. Before that point, I’d hardly ever seen a starry night sky. But from then on, it became abundantly clear that the natural world around me was to be an integral part of my personal journey.

I graduated from the University of Vermont with my BA in English & Sociology. Since then I have been a Montessori assistant teacher in Chicago, a high school substitute teacher in California and New York, a nanny for children ranging from infancy to age 10, an assistant at a theater camp in Vermont, and a gardener. I continue to work seasonally at an orchard.

I  feel blessed to join the CMS community because it truly isn't every day you come across a school devoted to both land stewardship and dismantling biases. I am also so happy to return to working at a Montessori school because I love the way that the Montessori approach is grounded in mindfulness and caring for the Earth.

When I'm not at work you can find me crafting, foraging, protesting, hiking, and camping with my partner, reading all things Haymarket Books, or with my hands in the soil.
