Full-Time Substitute
(He/Him)
Scott Hari Whitmore is an educator, musician, and non-profit leader dedicated to fostering individualized, student-led learning environments that empower personal growth. With a degree in psychology and extensive experience in both traditional and alternative education settings, he specializes in integrating behavioral support, mindfulness, and creativity into learning spaces.
With five years of professional classroom experience, Hari has worked in diverse educational settings, including severe special education programs, behavioral units, and traditional classrooms. His experience in classroom management and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) has allowed him to support students with a wide range of learning needs. As a Behavioral Counselor at Cambridge Public Schools and an Applied Behavioral Counselor at Melmark New England, he gained firsthand experience in adaptive teaching methods, therapeutic programming, and social-emotional learning.
Beyond the classroom, Hari is passionate about the intersection of education, music, and social change. He is a founding partner of Sacred Community Project, where he helped launch a prison outreach program that has connected with hundreds of incarcerated individuals nationwide. He has also served as the Director of Outreach for the Call and Response Foundation, overseeing a prison kirtan program that reached over 300 inmates in seven facilities, as well as a nationwide recovery kirtan program. In these roles, he managed programming, fundraising, retreats, and community-building initiatives focused on healing through music and meditation.
His time as a personal assistant and caregiver to Ram Dass in Maui further shaped his philosophy of care, service, and sustainability. During this time, he helped manage retreats, events, and multimedia projects while providing direct caregiving and medical support. His time with his teacher continues to influence his approach to education, blending awareness with personal and spiritual development.
As a multi-instrumental musician, Hari plays a variety of drums (kit, mridanga, tabla), harmonium, and guitar. He has led retreats, workshops, and lessons for children and adults, using music as a tool for connection, mindfulness, and personal expression.
With a lifelong passion for fostering creativity, resilience, and self-discovery, Scott seeks to bring his experience and heart-centered approach to an educational community that values holistic learning, personal growth, and meaningful connection.
