Children are outside every day because there is no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing. Every day, the children have the opportunity to be immersed in nature and are free to work, play, explore, and integrate cognitive development.

Welcome to
Catskill Montessori School
Our school rests on the ancestral lands of the Haudenosaunee, the Muhheconneok, and the Lenape people between the Catskill Mountains’ foothills and the Mahicannituck River’s banks. We honor this history, acknowledging these nations’ displacement, and aspire to build a more inclusive future, with our school serving as a beacon of this transformative journey.
As a private, non-profit Montessori school, we are committed to earth care, people care, and fair share, grounded in permaculture ethics. Our campus – a blend of historical architecture and nature – provides a harmonious setting for our five fully equipped Montessori classroom communities.
We opened our doors in the fall of 2020 with the promise of offering education that nurtures the whole child, as Montessori has been doing for over 150 years. In our fourth year, we proudly serve children from 18 months to 12 years old. Our Montessori education, set in our beautiful permaculture farm setting, enriches the learning experience, blending indoor and outdoor environments in a way that inspires and engages.
At Catskill Montessori School, children are guided to become stewards of the earth as a starting point for creating a more just future since a healthy planet is the foundation upon which the ethics of people care and fair share rest.
